Due to the recent directives by Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC), on telecommunication users to link their National Identification Numbers with their phone lines. MTN has gone ahead to disconnect non-compliant customers by restricting them from making calls as directed by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
b. Next, click on the Select Type DROP DOWN BOX to select NIN or VNIN (Verify NIN)
e. After clicking on Validate a confirmation message like the one below will be sent to you via SMS. Wait for up to 24 hours for your line to be unbarred.
OPTION 4: Simply text NIN 11-DIGIT to 785 and send. Example: 12345678901 to 785.
There has been an uproar since the incident on the 5th of April, 2022.
Users of MTN mobile network has been worried on how the incident could affect their business and relationships at large.
If you receive the following text below stating that your line has been blocked. then you do not have to worry.
"Yello! Following the directive to bar SIMs not linked to NIN.
Your line has been barred from making calls and sending SMS.
To reconnect, dial*785# to link your NIN. To register for NIN,
visit any MTN shop."
There are simply four (4) ways you can to link your NIN to your MTN Line:
OPTION 1: Dial *785*11-digit NIN free of charge and follow the instructions.
OPTION 2: You can submit your NIN by downloading the MyMTN app. To download simply text ''MYMTN" to 5018
OPTION 3: Visit https://nin.mtnonline.com/nin/ to link your NIN to your MTN line. See the steps below;
a. Click on Link My NIN (That is, if you have have registered). If you are yet to register, simply go to the I don't have a NIN tab to get the nearest MTN office location to register for NIN.
c. Since you are linking your NIN to your MTN, Simply select NIN, then enter your details and click on NEXT
d. A One Time Pin (OTP) will be sent to the phone number you provided. Copy the correct code into the box and click on Validate.
OPTION 4: Simply text NIN 11-DIGIT to 785 and send. Example: 12345678901 to 785.
